When to Watermark a PDF
Watermarking is essential for protecting intellectual property and communicating document status. Add "DRAFT" watermarks to preliminary proposals, "CONFIDENTIAL" to sensitive documents, or your company logo as a watermark to branded materials. Photographers and designers watermark portfolios to prevent unauthorized use.
Our tool supports customizable text watermarks with adjustable font size, opacity, rotation angle, color, and position — including tiled watermarks that cover the entire page.
Watermark Customization
The tool renders a live preview so you can fine-tune appearance before applying. Use the opacity slider (10-100%) to control visibility — 30-50% is typical for draft watermarks. Tiled mode repeats the watermark diagonally across the page for comprehensive coverage. You can apply the watermark to all pages or only the first page using the toggle.
The watermark is embedded as a PNG overlay using pdf-lib and PDF.js for preview rendering. All processing is local and private.
